Official City committees are comprised of citizen volunteers, appointed by the Mayor. These committees perform important functions and advise the Mayor and City Council in their respective areas of expertise. The City's operating philosophy has been one which encourages the greatest possible citizen input and participation.

The Board of Elections is in charge of the registration of voters, nominations for public office and all City elections.

The City Welcoming Committee was established in 1986 to welcome new residents moving into New Carrollton with a packet of information on City services and organizations.

The Ethics Commission is the body responsible for interpreting the Public Ethics Ordinance, and files with the attorney financial disclosure statements submitted by all elected and appointed officials. As necessary, the Commission will hear complaints and, on the advice of the attorney, will render decisions.

New Carrollton Neighborhood Watch this is the simple, effective and neighborly way to help reduce crime in the city. Based on voluntary "cluster groups" Neighborhood Watch instructs citizens to be aware of and report suspicious activity to the appropriate agency, whether to the Police Department, City Hall or just to your neighbors. We must all strive to "Take a Bite Out of Crime" to make our community safer and better. For more information, see the Neighborhood Watch Web pages, call City Hall (301-459-6100).

The Weinbach Scholarship Committee was formed for the selection of the recipients of the Annual Weinbach Scholarship, which was established in 1980 in memory of Vera Cope Weinbach, a former New Carrollton City Council member, in recognition of her service to the community.

The Zoning and Appeals Committee was formed to review requests for variance that are submitted to the City.

The Green Team was established by the City Council in 2018 with a mission to guide the City on a path toward greater environmental responsibility and sustainability. The Green Team works with the Mayor and the City Council to adopt green initiatives that improve municipal operations, promote a sustainable community, and cultivate the long-term environmental health of the City.
